As a culmination to our community and Michigan studies, students visited the Utica Community including: Jimmy John’s Field, the Utica Police and Fire Stations, the Utica Library, Dairy Queen and Grant Park. We had a fun filled day of learning (and walking).
Troy Historic Village Field Trip
What a great field trip! Students learned about early Michigan community life by role playing and interacting with artifacts at the Troy Historic Village. From making candles, to the one room school-house, and churning butter in the log cabin, students got a real sense of what 1880's life was like in Michigan.
In May we went on a walking field trip through the city of Utica. We visited the Fire Station, Police Station, Library, Grant Park, and the Dairy Queen. It was a great ending to our communities unit.
