Flickinger students were able to interact with animals at our assembly presented by the Reptarium. Students had fun learning about reptiles and interacting with them.
Solar Eclipse 2024
After reading solar eclipse informational articles, answering text dependent questions, watching videos, listening to a read aloud book, and participating in a solar dance break, students put on their solar eclipse glasses and checked out the amazing show.
Seven Ponds' Naturalist Presentation
Thanks to the generosity of the Flickinger Parent Group, third grade students participated in a presentation about Michigan animals and their adaptations given by a naturalist by Seven Ponds Nature Center.
Moving Blocks Simulation
Magnet Mayhem Our class explored the properties of magnets through hands on self-directed exploration. This led to a great discussion of magnetic properties guided by our anticipation guide.
Our first third grade unit focuses on force and motion. We are incorporating NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) into our instruction with a focus on the science and engineering practices.
We recently completed a "shooting marbles" experiment with force and motion.
Maker space is a station that is part of STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. It provides students with a hands on experience in applying the science and engineering practices. It allows kids to create, investigate, and explore using a variety of supplies and technology. We have a maker space in our library and we also have a mini-maker space in our classroom.
